Producing significant volumes of abrasive sand, iron sulfate and other solids with electric submersible pumps (ESPs) presents challenges, which can compromise system run life. In standard constructions, excessive abrasives can wear pumps quickly, reduce performance, and cause premature failures.
To provide advanced wear protection without sacrificing pump efficiency, Valiant offers abrasion-resistant modular (ARM) pumps featuring robust tungsten carbide bearings for enhanced radial support in wells with abrasive and solids-laden production.

Manage Solids with Abrasion-Resistant ESP Configurations
Since pump down thrust is carried at each ARM bearing placement, no impeller or diffuser down-thrust load is transferred to the ESP’s seal section, thus raising the total thrust load capacity of the ESP and allowing for deeper setting depths. Additionally, these ARM bearing sets feature a system of slots and grooves with unique geometry, proven in the field to allow sufficient flow of solids through and around the sleeve and bushing. This prevents issues such as accelerated wear, heat buildup, and shaft breakage associated with sand accumulation in these spaces.
Abrasion-Resistant ESP Boosts Oil Production Over 300%
After experiencing sub-optimal production from a gas-lift well, a Mid-Con operator contacted Valiant Artificial Lift Solutions to help boost production. By replacing the gas-lift system with an abrasion-resistant ESP, Valiant was able to provide immediate results and significantly increase oil recovery from the well.
